The Building Maintenance Company is a family-run building contractor based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Established in 1985 by our director Kevin, we have spent the last 40 years helping local homeowners maintain and improve their properties.
We started as a small operation built purely on word-of-mouth... and thanks to our loyal customers, we’ve grown into a trusted name for quality home improvements in the Huddersfield area.
Huddersfield and the wider West Yorkshire area have plenty of builders, here’s what makes The Building Maintenance Co stand out:
We’re not a fly-by-night outfit. With our long history since 1985, we’ve weathered all kinds of projects and challenges. Our experience means we can anticipate issues and solve problems efficiently on your behalf.
We have deep roots in Huddersfield. From navigating local building regulations to understanding Yorkshire weather (and its impact on homes!), our local knowledge gives you an advantage. We’ll advise you on the best solutions for our specific climate and building styles.
When you work with us, you know exactly who is responsible for your project. Kevin oversees most jobs and is only a phone call away. Unlike larger firms, we offer a single point of contact who truly cares about your satisfaction.
As a small company, we can be more flexible to your needs. Need to adjust something mid-project? Have an urgent repair? We do our best to accommodate and respond quickly. We’re also happy to work around your schedule whenever possible.
Nothing makes us prouder than positive feedback from our clients. We’re delighted to have many 5-star reviews and testimonials. In fact, most of our work comes from repeat customers and referrals, a testament to the quality and trust we’ve built. We don’t consider a job done until you are 100% satisfied.
Whether you need a small fix or a major renovation, we’re happy to help.

Over four decades, we’ve gained expertise across a wide range of building and roofing services. Our team is skilled in everything from structural work to fine finishing. Here are some of the projects we commonly undertake:
Repairs, re-roofing, flat roof installations, gutter and fascia replacements, chimney re-pointing.
Single and double-storey extensions, garage conversions, porches, and structural alterations.
Bricklaying, stonework, re-pointing, installing lintels or beams, and fixing general wear-and-tear issues.
Being a one-stop shop for building maintenance means you don’t have to juggle multiple contractors, we handle as much of the project as possible, bringing in our specialist partners when needed. Our goal is to make your life easier by providing comprehensive services under one roof.
Kevin founded the company with a simple goal: do honest, high-quality work and treat customers like family. To this day, those values remain at the heart of everything we do.
Each project is carried out by qualified and experienced builders. We take pride in getting the details right, whether we’re fixing a leaky tap or constructing a house extension, our workmanship is second to none.
As a small family business, our reputation means everything. That’s why you can count on us to be transparent, keep our promises, and ensure you’re happy with the result. No gimmicks or cutting corners, just honest work.
When you hire us, you deal directly with the people who will be working on your home. Kevin personally oversees most projects and is always available to answer questions. We build relationships with our clients, many of whom come back to us for multiple jobs over the years.
Huddersfield is our home, and we care about our community. We’ve served generations of local families. Being locally based means we understand local housing styles (from traditional stone terraces to modern builds) and common maintenance issues in our area. We’re just around the corner when you need us.
We know how frustrating it is when tradespeople don’t show up or finish a job. That’s why we’re punctual, tidy, and reliable. We treat your schedule and property with respect, arriving on time, working diligently, and leaving your home neat and safe at the end of each day.
As a highly rated local company, we’re proud to have a 5/5 rating on MyBuilder. We work hard to deliver friendly service and quality workmanship.
